Hotter than hot

Well it has been like an inferno in my part of Pennsylvania for the past few days. When the temps are that high I try to stick to cotton clothing whether it be a dress, shorts, or a tank top. Just a few pics of a backup outfit from my New York trip that never got worn. The top is from Philly AIDS thrift store, the shorts are cheapies from TJMaxx, and the hat is Eugenia Kim for Target.

IMG_1058Never regretted all the dance I did in my earlier years until I saw this picture, look at my legs! So bulky!

IMG_1087 My Fossil watch up close and my pretty green ring.

IMG_1089Cheap bamboo ring that I spotted at the Goodwill. My boyfriend sprayed it with lacquer for me otherwise my fingers would turn green. The other ring is a sterling silver snake.

IMG_1093 Close-up! Hardly any makeup on… too hot for all the fuss. New evil eye charm around my neck.

Back from my lovely vacations!

Sorry for the lack in posting. I was at the Jersey Shore (missing Sea Isle right about now) for six days followed by a trip to New York to stay with my aunt and commute to the city to participate in the School of Style. The shore was fantastic. We had beautiful weather and I managed to get a severe sunburn, ouch. I did some thrifting while I was there. Managed to get a vintage hat as well as necklace and bracelet. New York was incredible and I miss it terribly. Luke Storey and Lauren Messiah who own the School of Style are incredible. For anyone who wants to become a stylist, I highly recommend it. I took classes 1 and 2 and had a blast. Class 3 is available in LA only and is on my to-do list in the future.

Last post before vacation!

I will be leaving for vacation in Sea Isle, New Jersey with my boyfriends family this Saturday and am very busy. The shore house we stay in does not have internet access, something that actually makes me very happy. I feel that nowadays we can become so disconnected from each other because of technology. When I was beginning my packing today I decided that a packing post would be ideal for many of you whom I am sure are in my position.

1. Always pack ahead of time.

I do not mean the day before. At least three days before you leave for your destination, you should begin packing. Make a list. This is extremely important. You should always pack enough outfits for your total time away plus one or two extras.

2. Ziploc bags will save your clothes.

If you plan on packing liquids with clothing, make sure you put them in Ziploc bags. I recommend putting shoes and liquids in a separate bag just in case the bags should fail.

3. Try to pack mix and match items.

As much as you want to pack that highlighter yellow bikini, think about if it will match other items in your wardrobe. When it comes to bathing suits, buy tops and bottoms that can be mix and matched. You can make three bikinis into nine bikinis this way.

4. Use trial sized bottles.

Although they may not sell your favorite hair product in trial size, you can always purchase those cheap little 3oz. bottles at Target or Walmart and fill them up. It will save a lot of space.

5. Check the weather ahead of time.

You never know when you may need a little warmth. Especially when it is pouring outside and the AC is on full blast in the shore house.

6. If there is going to be fun in the sun, bring a hat.

Nothing adds a pop of color and chicness to an outfit like a fun hat, plus extra protection for your gorgeous face.

7. Stick to sandals and flip flops

They will take up little room in your bag. They also weigh next to nothing. When it is scorching hot your piggies will thank you for the air supply.

8. Bring sunnies!

Pick your favorite pair, make an investment and got some with polarized lenses to protect your eyes.

9. Keep your make-up simple

It's summer, be easy and breezy. Let your skin breath!

10. Have fun!

Don't ever let packing consume you or stress you out. Worse case scenario is that you can just buy whatever you need when you get there.

Check back next Friday for a post-vacay post. If you see me in Sea Isle give me a shout!

My Favorite Fragrances

I have always been a fan of fragrance. Despite this, it is something that I don’t spend much money on as it can get pricey. I feel that a lot of people give fragrance as a gift for this reason. Below I will list my favorites and when I specifically use them.

Marc Jacobs Lola

This is an evening scent for me. Sephora describes it as a “warm floral bouquet.” Not something for those of you who still consider Bath and Body Works a fine fragrance.

Gap Grass

I nearly cried when I saw this. The perfume of my childhood, Gap Grass, was brought back to life. My mom bought me a small bottle as a child and I cherished it. It was discontinued and I was beyond upset, so much that I hoarded the little bottle it came in until the last drop went rancid. Around Christmas of 2009, I was with my aunt in Connecticut and noticed that it had been remade…I was ecstatic. It is a blend of ivy, greens, and musk but don’t knock it until you smell it. This is a perfect work day perfume.

Miso Pretty

On one of my first dates with my boyfriend, we went to King of Prussia Mall. While in Urban Outfitters I noticed this little gem. I was beyond broke at the time and decided to purchase it at another time, which never works for me because when I went back it was gone. Almost two years later I found it online for ten dollars! The bottle describes it as a plucky peony scent with cut grass and tuberose. I would wear this during the day as it is light.

DKNY Be Delicious

This is one fruity scent that I can handle for day wear. It has an apple-like smell, but not that sour apple Jolly Rancher smell. The bottle actually lasts a long time as well.

Lolita Lempika

This was the first time I ever bought a scent without smelling it first. It was about $16 at TJMaxx and I had read it had some sort of anise/black licorice undertone. It is one of the most beautiful, warm scents I have ever owned. Perfect for the evening.
