Street Style

I wish there was a magazine based solely on street style. I remember when I used to get ElleGirl (one of my all time favorite mags) and would love to look through the pages at the global street style. I was so angry when they replaced my subscription with CosmoGirl, what a joke. Anyways, does anyone have a magazine they prefer for great street style ?

Finally got my Longchamp !

After many years of wanting one of these, I finally have one. Whatever your opinion may be on them, I find them chic and classic. Hopefully it will be filled with all of my belongings for an outfit post.

Rags to Riches UPSCALE Resale

When I moved away from West Chester, Pennsylvania, toward to the far reaches of the state border, I wondered where I would find great vintage? On a rather boring day, I googled "vintage shops" where I was then alerted to Rags to Riches UPSCALE Resale outside of Wilmington, Delaware. I took the trip and was amazed at what I found. Time seemed to slip away during my first visit as I became lost among the various pieces of vintage, something that I have always loved. I have a few pieces from the store on my blog already, but I thought it deserved its own post. Lucky for me, I recently moved even closer to Delaware.

According to the owner's daughter, Jessica, her mother Jodie was in the field of business management and information technology before her move into the fashion field. Rags to Riches had a previous owner who opened the store for only short periods of time. Jodie often visited the store asking the owner for more shopping hours so she could visit more often. Jodie at that time, like many people, felt her career at the time was not rewarding. She decided to invest in her love for art and fashion and buy the store. Since then the store's location has changed twice, moving across the street and then finally back over to its original side. I believe the new location is fantastic, with various rooms and levels of vintage and resale couture.

The store is located at 5712 Kennett Pike Wilmington, DE 19807.

Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Phone: 302-654-5997

Jodie does not post pictures on-line of various products for sale and I admire her for that as I believe it adds an element of mystery to the hunt for that perfect piece, I often say to myself, "What will I find there today?" With her permission, I took the following pictures to give my followers an idea of what types of pieces are located within the store.

First off, Jodie has a fantastic selection of shoes. Look at that cute bench for seating !

Wish I could fit into these Vivienne Westwood’s… A perfect gift for Valentine's Day.

Another great part of the store is the selection of furs such as rabbit, fox, sable, etc. The special when I was there was 50 % off all furs.

Besides fantastic furs, Rags to Riches also has a beautiful collection of bridal gowns as well as gowns perfect for prom.

The accessory selection at Rags to Riches is stellar. They have jewelry, bags, hats, scarves, gloves, wallets, even a cigarette holder !

Besides women’s clothing and accessories, there is an upstairs that contains men’s clothing, kid’s clothing, home interior goods and books. The cowboy boots below are made all types of various animal skins who were hunted by a exotic game hunter.

And now to the best part, the vintage clothing. Rags to Riches has a vast collection of vintage articles that are a part of today’s trends. From sequins and lace to capes and the militaristic look, you can find many pieces at sensible prices.

So you are probably wondering if I bought anything? OF COURSE I DID ! I saw this sign and it gave me inspiration to shop on…

I found this fabulous navy blue cape that was originally $75 dollars. It was a red-line item which meant that it was 50% off !!! It is incredibly warm and extremely unique with a gorgeous lining and dramatic buttons.

I would like to thank Jodie and Jessica for letting me come into their shop and take such interesting photos and most importantly have fun !

New York

Sorry for the delay in posts. I was in New York for the weekend visiting my aunt and uncle in Westchester county as well as spending time in the city with my boyfriend for our anniversary. The city was beautiful as usual, I am pining away for it right now wishing I could be a few minutes away instead of three hours. I will say that I got to shop around a lot. I hit up Topshop, Hamlet's Vintage, and Aldo where I got a nice bag for my anniversary gift. We had dinner reservations at what seemed to be a great restaurant, but when we got there it was so loud and more of a party scene than a two-year anniversary scene. We ended up at Jack's on 40th street which was super quiet with great food. It was Super Bowl Sunday (we don't really watch football) so the place was Super quiet. All in all it was a great trip and I can't wait to go back.

Mood Board: Holly Golightly

My fourth assignment for styling school was to create a mood board for a modern remake of a classic movie. I chose to create a mood board for Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Audrey Hepburn herself was a great style icon of our time and has a left a lasting impression on fashion history.
