So In Love With Sequins

I love sequins. They are a huge trend for the fall and seem to work their way into every season's runways. Whether you start small with some accessories or put yourself out there in a catsuit, sequins are the perfect way to add some sparkle and shimmer to your wardrobe.

As always, everything is under $50.

How do you feel about sequins?

The Most Fashionable Cities in America

According to the Huffington Post, there is a ranking of the most fashionable cities in America. Bundle.com did the leg work in this study. According to the HuffPo, "Bundle selected the 50 largest cities based on population data and created a "fashion-conscious index" to rank them based on the percentage of "fashion-conscious households" in our sample, which we defined as households that had at least four transactions at top-end designer merchants in the past 30 months."

When one thinks about the number one most fashionable city I am sure that New York, Los Angeles, or even Miami come to mind. This top ten list proved ALL THREE of these cities incorrect. See if the list below matches up with your guesses.

10. Boston, Massachusetts
9. Washington, D.C.
8. San Francisco, California
7. Plano, Texas
6. Chicago, Illinois
5. Dallas, Texas
4. Miami, Florida
3. Los Angeles, California
2. NYC
1. Irvine, California

Despite the findings of this study, I truly believe that money cannot buy style. That is exactly what this study is based on... money. Four high fashion purchases in 30 months does not necessarily make you a "fashionable" person.

As Edna Woolman once said, "Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess."

Do the results shock you? I would love to know!

5 Ways to Stay Cool and Look Good This Summer

It's that time of year in my part of the United States. While the days are long, the temperatures are growing along with the humidity. You realize that some of the clothes you wore a month or two ago simply just don't keep you cool in the heat of the impending summer. Despite the rising temperatures I am going to dispense some valuable advice to you on how to look good AND stay cool whether you are at work or on the beach. (And to my friends south of the Equator, bookmark this page for December)

1. Wear cotton- I know I probably sound like some weather advisory bulletin warning you to stay inside and keep your pets out of the sun, but it's true... Cotton is the fabric of summer (and apparently our lives as well). When people say that cotton "breathes", they are right. Unlike most synthetic fabrics like rayon or polyester, cotton allows your skin to feel light and unburdened. Check clothing tags before you make a purchase for the summer.

2. Avoid wearing dark colors- I know this can be difficult for some people, especially those who work in industries where long black pants may be part of the uniform. My best advice is if you don't have to wear dark colors, stick with something light.

3. Let your feet breathe- Flip flops and sandals will work best for your feet in the summer. If you have to wear heels or wedges make sure it is something with an open toe. An extra piece of advice would be to purchase some blister block as well. Your feet will be more prone to blisters in the summer when it is hot.

4. Own a hat- Hats are a huge trend every summer and you might think that it won't look right on you. Think again. If there is one accessory I get comments on it is my hats. They will keep the sun out of your eyes and off of your face. They can also eliminate the need for sunglasses making your eyes more visible.

5. Try out some new hair accessories- To the people who like their hair in their face on a hot day, I salute you. It just doesn't work for me. Hit up H&M or the hair accessory aisle at your local drug/chain store to find affordable accessories to keep your hair off of your face and keep your makeup looking fresh.

Vacation Series: Tropical Island

This week's vacation series will make you long for an island far away from the hustle of your workday. Just imagine sipping drinks in this fabulous monokini. Shield your eyes with a floppy hat, a huge trend for this summer. Being in a glamorous locale means you need to add some glamour to your suit. A cocktail ring and statement necklace will do the trick. Finally add some texture to your look with a pair of mock snakeskin sandals for an exotic touch.

As always, all items are under $50.

Are you headed somewhere exotic this summer? Tell me below!

Polka Dot, Polka Spot

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately! I started a new job this week so I was adjusting to my new schedule. I love my job and the people I work with so it has been a positive experience thus far. This was an outfit that I wore last Friday so I am definitely far behind in my posting.

Dress- TJMaxx
Shoes- Steve Madden
Bag- DSW
Bracelet- Vintage
Belt- Came with another dress

I bought these shoes for a wedding a few years back, they are super comfortable.

I realized that I never do close shots of my face so here is a good one!

Have a great weekend and stay stylish!
