Fashionable Resolutions for the New Year

Christmas has yet to arrive and I am already thinking of the New Year and all that is to come. While I think resolutions of the serious kind are important, I believe that fashionable resolutions keep things light and fun. You do not have to go out and buy a new wardrobe or be uncomfortable in heels that you bought to look cool. Keep things simple and you will most likely stick to your goals.

If you are really feeling a lack of creativity here are some ideas for your list:

1. Give yourself a fun manicure! Do not beat yourself up if you cannot make your tips look as good as the images you see online. One of the best ways to make your nails look cute are nail strips, they are completely foolproof.  Here are some fun ideas from Pinterest below if you are feeling brave:

if only my nails were long / skinny enough to do fun nail art. they're short & chubby. le sigh.

There's such a fun childhood flashback to this awesomely bright neon mani. #nails #nail #polish #manicure #neon

I love bright nails with fun designs in the summertime- neutral makeup and a fun manicure is one of my favorite summertime looks! #colorsofsummer

2. Try a new accessory! Whether it be a hat, vest, or a stack of bracelets; you are sure to add an interesting element to your outfit.

Check out my Arm Party board on Pinterest for inspiration!

3. Try a new trend. One of my favorite trends for spring is the "Black and White" trend. This is great news for the fashion minimalists out there and the perfect chance for those addicted to color (guilty as charged) to tone it down. Check out the image below from Style Bistro.

4. Organize your closet. I have posted on this many times before but I cannot stress the importance of an organized closet. The old saying "Out of site, out of mind" is just as true here as it is in other appropriate instances. There have been many times when I have dug through a messy closet only to discover the next morning the perfect accessory missing from the night before.

5. Learn to layer. No matter what the season, layering is key for an outfit with texture. Use a cardigan over a dress in the summer or wear multiple layers in the winter. No matter what you choose you are sure to look chic and stay comfortable. One of my favorite places to find inspiration for layering is J.Crew. Their website and style guides are unbelievable.

What are your fashion resolutions?
